Should anyone doubt the effectiveness of tactical voting and how it can stop Labour from getting back in through the back door, they should have a browse through the more detailed results from the 2005 General Election, which are here:

There are many, many examples of constituencies in which just a little tactical voting will ensure that Labour do not win the seat next time, whereas otherwise they may do. Here is one such example, Dundee East, which the SNP won with a wafer thin majority of less than 1%.
PARTY ------------- VOTES
SNP --------------- 14,708
Labour ------------ 14,325
Conservative ------- 5,061
Lib-Dem ------------ 4,498
Scottish Socialist --- 537
UKIP ----------------- 292
Independent ---------- 119
Recent opinion polls are showing that Labour are now favourites to win Scottish seats such as that one, which they lost by only 383 votes last time. Yet look at the Tory vote - 5,061. And the Lib-Dem vote - 4,498. That is over nine thousand wasted votes because neither of those two parties had any chance of winning that seat, and that won’t change in the coming election. If just a small proportion of those Tory and Lib-Dem voters could be persuaded to vote SNP for the sake of averting certain national catastrophe, that would be one less seat for Labour.
The Tories may tell you that the only way to stop Labour is to vote Conservative, but that is only true in areas that the Tories have a chance of winning the seat. Otherwise, a vote for David Cameron is, effectively, a vote for Gordon Brown.
But now let’s look at another marginal constituency in which the Tories are indeed the only party to vote for to help save our country from ruin. The constituency is Crawley.
PARTY ------------- VOTES
Labour ------------ 16,411
Conservative ------ 16,374
LibDem ------------- 6,503
BNP ---------------- 1,277
UKIP --------------- 935
DSA ---------------- 263
Justice Party ------ 210
Labour won that seat by just 37 votes. And just look at all the wasted votes for the five parties that never had a hope of winning the seat. If just 38 of them had voted tactically, they could have denied Labour that seat.
Here is another constituency, Islington South & Finsbury, in which people should vote for the Lib-Dems as the only party that can stop Labour:
PARTY ------------- VOTES
Labour ------------ 12,345
LibDem ------------ 11,861
Conservative ------- 4,594
Green -------------- 1,471
UKIP ----------------- 470
Loony ---------------- 189
Ind ------------------- 31
A majority for Labour of 484. If just a fifth of those Tory voters had understood that their party could not possibly win that seat, and had switched to the Lib-Dems, they could have stopped Labour from taking it.
That was last time, but this time we must not throw away this opportunity to save our country from the certain ruin that another Labour Government will mean.
These Labour madmen have to be stopped, and tactical voting is the best weapon we have to do it. Voters need educating as to the workings of the first-past-the-post electoral system, and how they can prevent their votes going to waste to the benefit of the Labour wreckers.
There is still time to save our country from the certain bankruptcy that Gordon Brown is hell-bent on causing. Organised and intelligent tactical voting will ensure that he and his henchmen are dispatched to the dustbin of political history, where they belong, and from where they can do no further harm to our country.

BEFORE YOU VOTE LABOUR, READ THIS:
From the Campaign to Avert National Bankruptcy (C.A.N.B)
The coming General Election is the most important in Britain’s history. And there is something you must know before you vote. Your future, your children’s future, and the survival of this country are at stake. Please read this notice before you vote. Otherwise it will be too late to stop the catastrophe facing our country.
The Campaign to Avert National Bankruptcy (C.A.N.B) is not in any way affiliated to any political party. We neither support nor campaign for any specific party. The purpose of this notice is not to tell you who to vote for, but, simply to warn you of who not to vote for, and for a very good reason.
We will keep it short and simple:
You may have heard Gordon Brown and his Labour colleagues claiming that cutting spending now would risk falling back into recession. That is probably untrue, but even if it were true, it is the most reckless and irresponsible policy ever put forward by any political party in this country. Why? Because there is something far, far worse than a recession. And that is national bankruptcy.
If Labour were to win the General Election, and carry out their promise to continue their mad spending spree, this country will soon be bankrupt. Nothing is more certain than that. All recessions, including the most recent one, come to an end. But national bankruptcy is a very different matter. Gordon Brown warning that ending his crazy spending, risks falling back into recession, is like telling someone not to get out of a burning building in case they catch a cold outside.
Here are the five stages of Britain becoming bankrupt:
STAGE 1. The first stage of national bankruptcy will be a Labour victory at the General Election. That alone will cause the pound to plummet as the international currency markets experience panic selling of a currency large traders no longer wish to hold on to. If you want proof of that, look at how sterling fell immediately following the news that Labour had pulled back to only two points behind the Tories in a recent Times poll.
STAGE 2. The second stage is that our deficit will reach one trillion pounds. That won’t take long because we are almost there already.
STAGE 3. Our national credit rating will drop, making borrowing more expensive.
STAGE 4. We reach the point at which we can no longer borrow, at any rate of interest.
STAGE 5. The value of our currency becomes less than the paper it is printed on. We have no way of repaying the debts that Gordon Brown has piled up on our behalf. That’s it: we’re bust.
Nobody will want to invest in our country because there is no money left here. Factories, schools, hospitals, police stations, fire stations will close because there is no money to keep them open. Crime will spiral completely out of control. Nobody will be safe, even in their homes.
That is what will happen if Labour win this time.
So how can we stop them?
There is only one way. TACTICAL VOTING. That means not everyone voting for the same party, wherever in the country we live, but for whichever party is most likely to stop Labour from winning the seat in our own specific areas.
So if, in your area, it is likely to be a straight fight between Labour and the Tories, vote Tory. If it is going to be between Labour and the Lib Dems, vote Lib Dem. In Scotland there are many seats that only Labour or the SNP can possibly win. In those areas, vote SNP. Similarly in Wales, there are seats that only Plaid Cymru can stop Labour from winning. If you live in such a constituency, don’t waste your vote on the Tories, Lib Dems or anyone else with no chance of winning that seat, but instead vote Plaid Cymru.
Tactical voting is the only sure-fire way of stopping Labour and saving Britain from national bankruptcy.

Look at the results from the last General Election. If Labour won the seat for your area, vote for whichever party came second. If another party won the seat, vote for that party to win it again this time. But also keep an eye on the opinion polls, particularly those just for your area. If the winner last time is now trailing behind some other (non Labour) party, for whatever reason, vote for the party that is now ahead in the polls in your area.
